Support Organisation: The Engine Room & SSE Cornwall
Stacie set up New Day Knitwear with the aim of providing an exciting and fun way of encouraging people to care more about their mental health, which can be easily neglected. Through a series of creative workshops, plus free drop in sessions, Stacie aims to help anyone currently receiving traditional methods of support and anyone that wants to take better care of their emotional well-being by getting creative.
The Engine Room and SSE Cornwall have:
- Supported with setting up a CIC
- Secure a studio space in Truro
- Develop product range
The support from The Engine Room and SSE Cornwall, together with the grants she͛s received, has now given Stacie the opportunity to launch New Day Knitwear, secure a studio in Truro, appoint her first two directors and develop her product range.
So far, Stacie has also contributed to an article for the Daily Telegraph, appeared on local BBC radio and TV and collaborated with TV actress and coach Holly Matthews on a small creative project.
She’s also planning a launch party, a Crowdfunding campaign and more products for Autumn 2017.
“The support I’ve received from them has been amazing and really helped me reign in and focus myideas into building a realistic business model. My advice to any budding social entrepreneur would be to join a business support programme and find a mentor if you have the opportunity. As entrepreneurs, the amount we take on alone can be overwhelming and it͛s fantastic to have that uplifting personal support from your peers as well as the business support from the experts.”
